 Ananova:
Pet parrot held for ransom

A US woman is accusing her neighbour of holding her adventurous pet parrot for ransom.

Rover, an African grey parrot, flew out of owner Christy Myers' home in Oklahoma City and she says the bird is now in neighbour Stacey Speck's home.

Ms Myers says her neighbour has asked for $460 (around £330), DNA evidence that the bird is Rover and a video of him before she will give it back.

Assistant district attorney Gary McCurdy says there is insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Ms Myers says she has DNA evidence, but she "is tired of jumping through hoops" and wants her neighbour to return the bird for free, The Oklahoman reports.

She added that she could take legal action to get her parrot back, but she does not have the money for a lawyer.
