Stephen Hawking has been turned into a rap star by a website that's dubbed him MC Hawking.

The site, www.mchawking.com, claims the Cambridge physicist spends his spare time as a "gangsta rapper".

Ken Leavitt-Lawrence who came up with the idea for the site says it all started when he got a new computer with a speech function.

"It sounded a lot like Stephen Hawking," he told the Daily Star.

"I thought it'd be funny to send a voice mail as Stephen Hawking. Then I thought it'd be funny if he was a rapper."

Ken has had word from Professor Hawking that he's flattered by the attention, "it's a modern day equivalent of Spitting Image," the letter said.
