 Ananova:
Baby born in toilet

Denis Larocque has made an abrupt entry into the world - headfirst into a toilet.

His father Claude had rung for an ambulance when his wife Amanda yelled: "The baby's in the toilet!" seconds after giving birth to their seventh child.

The 8lb, 4oz boy made his unexpected arrival 13 days early as his mother's waters broke when she visited the toilet, the Ottawa Sun reports.

"I wasn't pushing or anything, he just came out. I didn't even realise he was out at first. I was shocked. I didn't know to expect him. I was really scared," said Mrs Larocque.

The jolt of cold water surprised the baby into loud, panicked screams and the shock turned him pink instead of the usual blue.

Mr Larocque carried mother and baby into the living room where one of the couple's other children woke to greet his new brother.

Paramedics arrived moments later and Denis is in the nursery ward of an Ottawa hospital for a precautionary check-up.
