Dr Fox says he was shocked when Chris avoided the boot on Pop Idol this week.

The DJ felt Chris put in one of his worst performances and is on his way out of the show.

He said: "I feel that time has run out for Chris. He didn't have a great voice singing on Saturday and he was a real contender to go out.

"I can't see him going much further. He fills me with unnatural feelings. I feel a little uncomfortable when he performs and find him unbelievable.

"He's an interesting, lovely guy, but he makes me feel a bit weird and others in the competition have a lot more to offer.

"We want a winner like Will or Gareth who will continue to have hit songs a year after the competition is over. I think that if Chris was releasing against Kylie or Busted, he wouldn't have a hope in hell - it's sad, but true."

But fellow judge Pete Waterman disagreed: "I love his voice and could listen to him sing for hours," he said.
