Justin Hawkins thinks The Darkness will miss out on the coveted Christmas Number One spot.

The group are to release their single, Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End), on December 15.

However in an interview with XFM, the singer said that he thinks they'll be pipped to the post.

"I think next year," Hawkins said when asked if he would reach Number One. "But I think this year it's gonna be numero deux. You mark my words."

The current favourites with the bookies are the Pop Idol finalists, who will be releasing a cover of John Lennon's Happy Xmas (War Is Over).
