The Prime Minister is the first international politician to appear in the series.

Mr Blair took time off last year to record his contribution to the programme, which he lists among his favourites.

The episode in question, entitled The Regina Monologues, saw the family visit London on holiday.

Homer, Marge and their children were met at the airport by Mr Blair, who invited them back to No 10 for tea.

After a prime ministerial briefing on the sights to see, Homer caused embarrassment by spilling his Union Jack cupful of tea all over the carpet.

He then generated further chaos by crashing his Mini Cooper into the back of the Queen's carriage and finding himself sent to the Tower of London.

The episode also featured the voices of Harry Potter author JK Rowling and Sir Ian McKellen.
