Back to the Bars line-up announced

The Darkness, Ash, Atomic Kitten the Cure, Travis, Craig David and Big Brovaz are among stars who will play free shows in tiny venues for charity.

The gigs will take place over six nights in March in the second annual Passport: Back To The Bars series of fundraising concerts in aid of War Child and Shelter.

The concerts will be held in London, York, Liverpool, Cardiff, Glasgow and Birmingham at the Barfly group of venues between March 1 and 6.

Fans will have to enter a competition to try to win access to the gigs via "passports" allocated by the organisers on a random basis. Four pairs of entries for each show will be held over and auctioned online to the highest bidder.

Gigs at the London Barfly start on March 1 with David Gray and continue with gigs featuring Ash on March March 2, Craig David on March 3, the Darkness on March 4, the Cure on March 5 and the Pet Shop Boys on March 6.

York Fibbers is the venue for Blazin Squad on March 2, Spiritualized on March 3 and Badly Drawn Boy on March 5.

The Liverpool Barfly will be the venue for gigs featuring Starsailor on March 1, Sugababes on March 2, Elbow on March 3 and Atomic Kitten on March 7.

The Cardiff Barfly will host Amy Winehouse on March 2, Gary Numan on March 4, Super Furry Animals on March 5 and Supergrass on March 6.

The Glasgow Barfly will host the Divine Comedy on March 4 and Travis on March 10. Big Brovaz will play the Glee Club, Birmingham, on March 2 and the city's The Arcadian on the same day. Lemar will play the Barfly Acoustic on March 5.
