Hundreds of homes are threatened by floods as rivers burst their banks after hours of torrential rain and high winds. Storms lashed south Wales in the wake of gales which left one dead and a number injured in southern Britain. Firefighters and police reported flooding across the region and warned homes could be at risk, but said it was too early to speculate on numbers affected. Police in Gloucestershire were poised to begin possible evacuations in Dursley and Cam after flooding. Rivers burst their banks in Swansea and Aberkenfig, near Bridgend, but police said no evacuations had begun yet.
