 Ananova:
Vaughan uncertain over injury comeback

Michael Vaughan is uncertain whether he will return to the England side for the Commonwealth Bank Series contest with New Zealand at the WACA on Tuesday.

Captain Vaughan, whose absence through a hamstring tear coincided with three batting collapses, aggravated the injury during practice at Fletcher Oval, home of Perth Cricket Club.

"We will have to see how Monday's practice goes," said Vaughan, who pencilled in a comeback in the final three group games. "I started a little bit gingerly here but it got better as practice went on. To play on Tuesday I have to play a full part in all practice on Monday."

He added: "I just felt a little bit of a twinge when I ducked a ball. We will have to monitor how I wake up and also how I get through a full net session and fielding session.

"Every day we have tried to push it - there are always little obstacles you have to try to get over - and I guess the odd twinges might be something I have to live with."

Despite the slump in form without their leader, England's management will not want to risk Vaughan making his condition worse so close to the World Cup.
