 Ananova:
Title glory for Serena

Serena Williams landed her third Wimbledon title in fine style as she proved too strong for sister Venus in the final.

The American sisters were contesting the final for the fourth time, and five-time champion Venus, who was defending her title, was surprisingly outplayed.

Venus was considered favourite for the match after dropping just 20 games in her previous six matches, but Serena secured a 7-6 (7/3) 6-2 victory after breaking serve twice in the second set.

Although Venus saved three match points, Serena made sure of victory on her next chance.

Venus netted with a backhand and Serena, champion in 2002 and 2003, was able to celebrate.
