FT: Brighton & Hove Albion 1 Barnsley 0

Leon Knight took his goal tally to 19 with a twice-taken penalty to earn Brighton a 1-0 win over Barnsley.

The former Chelsea striker sent Tony Caig the wrong way after the goalkeeper blocked his first attempt - but was penalised for moving off his line.

Barnsley's first strike on goal came 15 minutes from time when Antony Kay put a half volley wide of substitute keeper Michel Kuipers' right-hand post.

Kuipers, out of action since November after suffering head injuries in a car crash, came on for the second half in place of the injured Ben Roberts.

Brighton striker Trevor Benjamin worked hard on his home debut and forced keeper Caig to save his first-time effort early after the restart.

Defender Adam Virgo later got free at the far post from Paul Watson's corner and sent a header narrowly wide.
