 Ananova:
Brit of all right for Surrey

Surrey have announced the biggest sponsorship deal in county cricket history which they believe will help fund the ambitious redevelopment of their ground.

Brit Insurance have agreed a £500,000-a-year deal, over the next three years, which has obtained the naming rights to the Oval and the sponsorship of the county.

They take over from AMP, who failed to fulfil their five-year agreement for the naming rights of the south London venue which traditionally hosts the final Test of a home summer.

"This new partnership could not have come at a better time as next week work starts on our ambitious redevelopment of the Vauxhall End of the ground," said Surrey chief executive Paul Sheldon.

"The support we will now receive from Brit will ensure that the Brit Oval maintains its pre-eminence as one of the world's leading Test venues."

Brit's involvement supersedes that of AMP, who previously held the naming rights, and RAC motoring services, the 2003 club sponsor.
