 Ananova:
Duo handed new Gills deals

Youngsters Jones Awuah and Dean Beckwith have been offered new one-year deals at Gillingham.

Awuah, whose contract expires at the end of this season, was "very happy" about the prospect of renewing his deal.

He told the club's official website: "I wasn't confident because they had bought in Patrick Agyemang and Darius Henderson and I wasn't really getting a look in. It could have gone the other way.

"But they have faith in me, they think I'm a good player and they think I can improve and I'm very happy about that."

Awuah, who has joined Dover on loan, has made four first-team appearances for the Gills, three as substitute, and played the full 90 minutes of a goalless draw at Coventry in April.

Beckwith is enjoying a loan spell with Conference side Dagenham, and scored in their recent draw against Hereford.
