Porto coach Jose Mourinho has demanded Sir Alex Ferguson apologise for his comments in an angry post-match exchange over Roy Keane's latest red card shame. The Manchester United skipper was dismissed four minutes from the end of the 2-1 Champions League defeat in Portugal after appearing to tread on goalkeeper Vitor Baia as he chased a pass into the Porto area. While Ferguson claimed he understood why referee Herbert Fandel reached for the red card, he was unhappy at Baia, who he claimed had made a meal of the incident. He made his feelings known to Mourinho during a heated exchange in the tunnel which drew a withering response from the man who has three times been employed as assistant to Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson. "Ferguson told me in the tunnel that he thought Vitor had made the most of it," said Mourinho, who preferred neither to confirm nor deny claims that the United boss had refused to shake hands with him after the game. "I said I wanted to see it on TV before I would make a comment but if he was right I would apologise. "However, if he has no reason to make the claim he can apologise to me. "Vitor told me he was diving for the ball, Keane left his foot in and he felt a bit of pain with the contact. "I understand why he is a bit emotional. He has some top players in the world and they should be doing a lot better than that. "You would be really sad if your team gets as clearly dominated as that by an opponent who has been built on maybe 10 per cent of the budget."
