FT: Batley Bulldogs 6 Whitehaven 29

Whitehaven's powerful pack swept the Cumbrians into the quarter-finals of the Powergen Challenge Cup with a comprehensive 29-6 victory over Batley.

Their razor-sharp reactions and powerful running had the game sewn up by half-time after loose forward Howard Hill crossed for two tries, quickly followed by Paul O'Neil and centre Wesley Wilson.

Their giant-sized centre Mick Nanyn weighed in with a try early in the second half to add to his four goals.

Batley's assistant coach Paul Harrison scored a splendid try, converted by Barry Eaton, but they were never really in the hunt.
