Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler is sweating on the fitness of two midfielders ahead of Saturday's visit of Coventry City. John Hills (calf) and skipper Paul Smith (foot) both missed last weekend's win over Wimbledon. Meanwhile, striker Tommy Johnson has resumed training after recovering from the knee injury he picked up against Reading in February. Coventry defender Steve Staunton has been ruled out of the clash after undergoing exploratory surgery on a knee problem in midweek. There are also concerns over the fitness of frontman Julian Joachim, who has been taking injections to help ease the discomfort of a pectoral muscle problem. Midfielder Craig Pead remains suspended.
